No. I was talking about using the flash load helper, when you do a 'copy
tftp flash'. If your serial interface is HDLC, you've got a default gateway
on the router, you should be able to use FLH for TFTP through the serial.

Are you talking about auto-install over frame-relay?

You could try using HDLC encap between the two.

Sorry, Nate. The 2500 series is run from flash. So it requires a reboot to
get it to start the download. If you watch the console port carefully, it
will come up and try to start the frame interface then start the download.
However, the 50 seconds or so for the LMI to sync up is more than the
timeout on tftp so it will fail.

So - best bet (er, only way to go) is LAN tftp.

Does anyone know if there is a way to upgrade Cisco 2500 series routers via
a serial interface? I have a couple 2502's (no ethernet) that I want to
upgrade via a TFTP server. I have connected them via a serial frame-relay
connection to a 2501. The 2501 is connected to the subnet with the TFTP
server. I can see the TFTP server from the 2502 initially. However, after
issuing the "COPY TFTP FLASH" command, the 2502 reboots and looses
connectivity back to the TFTP server, making it impossible to load the new
flash. Has anyone done this successfully?
