Please confirm

Switchport trunk allowed more to do with prunning rather than permitting, I
though one has to use

switchport multi vlan 1,xx,yy
 switchport mode multi

I don't think you need to make 40 the managment vlan. Just trunk the port
allowing all vlans that need to be transported. I would also use dot1.q, I
always have better experiance with it. You may want to double check to see
if you created the vlan 30. I did the same thing you did and notice that
vlan 30 does not exist in the show vlan. Rich
