i havent got a 3550 in hand..but when i had one for few hours..i did a
simple test creating two vlans, two vlan interfaces, assigned ip to each,
put a host on each vlan..try pinging..they could..(routing was on). then
disabled routing tried pinging it could.. restarted the 3550..routed
stopped. enabled routing.. it worked, rebooted the switch it worked, the
disabled routing i could still ping across...
made no real sense. i am waiting for a kit to try the same.
but in your scenario. disable briding, do the routing to see if you can ping
if it works..then turn routing off and try it..it should not work..now turn
briding on try the same.. there seems to be a bug in mls functionality..
cheers! sen

Hi group, I have the following problem. Anyone have tried this?
R5
|
(VLAN300)
|
R1--------(VLAN100)-------3550----------(Vlan300)-------R3
|
(Trunk)
|
R14
The management vlan on 3550 is 100. There is bridinge going on R14 between
vlan 300 and vlan 200. I can ping from R1 ro R3 and R5 and vice versa.
However I can't ping from the switch management vlan to neither R3 or R5.
But R1 is not a problem. Why is this happening? Anyone have answers?
