It's the 4000 series that does not support ISL.
If the 3550 does not support ISL then you will be asked to configure a dot1q
trunk instead. Both are supported on the 5000 series.

Could someone confirm if the 3550's supports ISL trunking. The web site
seems to say sugest yes, but from experience and talking to others I have
found not.
If it is the case, does anyone have any ideas as to the impact on the lab
(up to Nov 4th I mean). Going on Cisco's line, "only features common to the
cat5500 and the 3500 will be included in the lab"....
