Is the 2.2.2.0 segment on a switch/hub or just a crossover cable?

The only thing that occurs to me is that the eth1 on the router may go to up/down when the pc2 is powered down....?

Subject: Destination Host Unreachables

I have 1 device with an ip address 1.1.1.2/24 with a gateway of 1.1.1.1/24
on eth0.....my pc is 2.2.2.2/24 with a gateway of 2.2.2.1/24 on eth1 of the
same router. i have no problems pinging the device. my question is, when i
turn off pc 1.1.1.2 and try to ping it obviously i wont get a response. i
get 4 request timed outs and then about 6 "reply from host 2.2.2.0
Destination Host Unreachable" and then it bounces back to reqest time out
and back and forth. i do have no ip redirects on both interfaces. is this
the response i should be seeing? if so why?
