You need an IP address on an interface that is in the UP/UP state for
OSPF to allocate the router ID.

Subject: strange router issue.

I have been working on a 2651 router for the past few hours in a lab
running
ospf.

I finished a lab and erased the configs and reloaded the routers.

Now when I went to configure this 2651 router for ospf in this new lab I
get
the following error.

Router1(config)#router ospf 100
OSPF :Could not allocate router id

All other routing protocols seem to work fine.. I can't see what's
wrong..

Anyone any idea's
Kind regards.
Paul.
