I absolutely agree with you Colin. Lab or no lab I think a null route is ALWAYS a good thing to have when you are summarizing any route. This is a good practice. But I have discussed the same topic with other guys and they said REMOVE it.
The discussion grew and eventually the conclusion came to if you don't have a default route the null route won't be needed. I couldn't say no to that one. So that is why I am posting my concern.
It is little things like this that drive me nuts. I know in practical what needs to be done. But if a silly practice lab asks me to remove all null routes WHAT is the REASONING for this impractical task. I always believe their is a reason behind everything. I love to get down to the root of every problem I am confronted with. Now I am thinking well Doyle I, Zinin, Solie, Parkhurst, Halabi, and Caslow never mentioned this impractical task. They 100% of the time recommend it. Then Why should I change my way of the use of null routes that was created to help the infamous route loop problems.
I see practical manners like this schould be treated with respect. For example if I need to configure a routed environment for mutual redistribution between two points you think that I am not gonna use the distance command. Yeah right that will be my best friend. Of course I have never seen a scenario that says don't use distance but I think you get my point. I am gearing up for my first attempt and nailing all doubts and issues I feel is a MUST.
Thank you for your help and input is well appreciated.
