RE: OSPF over EIGRP !!!!

One point to consider is if you want any host systems to be able to
participate in the routing protocol. Most NOSs support OSPF, but I don't
think any support EIGRP. If you've got any dual homed servers which don't
route, you'll gain some efficiency by giving that host some layer 3
knowledge. This is a moot point if your Cisco hardware is on the beefy side
(think MSFC2) versus a one-armed routing 2610. A properly designed network
though should be able to handle hosts with only a default route. As far as
OSPF versus EIGRP, I think OSPF might be a little more scalable with it's
multiple area and stub area support. But make sure your design is
summarizable, otherwise neither will do the job well after a certain size is
reached. Just my .02!

Derek

I think that is exactly the point! If you have a choice between two almost
equally suitable options, then the deciding factor may well be how
proficient/confident you are at implementing that option.

Both will serve the same purpose (exchanging routes) & both can be tweaked
in certain ways to make it a more attractive option than the other. The
extent to which you decide to take this tweaking is entirely up to you.

Which one do you feel more comfortable using & which is likely to give you
fewer problems?

Cheers
Darren

Hi Madman

This is my point, having a routing protocol that is easy to implement is not
my kind of explanation. Think of it this way beside the easy configuration
part.

If I had White Paper and Cream Paper what is the best one to draw a picture
on, white because your use to drawing on it, or cream cause its nice to use,
whats the argument to use one over the other, ??????.

Derek
