Now is the time to invest in your career.
I wanted the CCIE because it was a challenge for me, it demanded a huge effort
on my side and it shows you're committed to achieve your goals. I passed back i
n May and haven't got any raise yet. I passed the Security written also in May
and got the CQS IP Telephony Design last week. I'm going for IP Telephony Suppo
rt now and start working in the Security Lab after that. The good thing about t
hese certifications is that they keep you learning and preparing yourself. When
the market comes back you'll be ready for it.
My company laid off half of my department back in April, now it laid off anothe
r half this week and frose all merit raises.
I'm still there, and so is the other CCIE.

It seems that the market is still sliding down even further, job market is
almost dead at least here in Australia.
Any indications on your side of the planet? this is really depressing,
especially after all this effort.
