with dialer pools, you can have profiles, which in essence you create point
to point connections. You can have many dialer interfaces with dialer
pools:

interface b0/0
dialer pool 1

interface dialer 1
ip add x.x.x.x
dialer pool 1
dialer remote-name r1 <-- required to bind incoming calls; 'dialer caller'
can also be used

interface dialer 2
ip add y.y.y.y
dialer pool 1
dialer remote-name r2

this allows you to use different IP addresses with different B channels; it
also allows 'hunting' for an available bri interface.

dialer rotary is much simpler and allows one dialer interface to use many
bri interfaces; it's much less flexible:

interface b0/0
dialer rotary 1

interface b0/1
dialer rotary 1

interface dialer 1 <-- this binds you to rotary-group 1
ip add x.x.x.x

here are some graphical representations:

I hoped this cleared up things and not complicated them ...

Subject: I got confused to use dialer pool-member and dialer
rotary-group

Hi,

I got confused in:

dialer pool-memeber
dialer rotary-group

Both combine physical interface with dialer profile.
What's the difference?

Thank you for help.

Best Wishes,
Peng Zheng
