Yes, what I was trying to say, is even when I had a route map option to
check tags, going into rip or igrp, I had problems with the route maps
working.

Now, when coming out of rip or igrp, of course you can't check tags that
aren't there, but I have had problems even with route maps checking
against something as simple as an access list.

Long story short, If possible, I try to use distribute lists when
dealing with classful routing protocols.

Sorry I wasn't very clear before.

BTW, if you think about it, it makes sense that the older code modules
used to compile this IOS don't get updated much after they are written.

My rule of thumb is to use the tools for route manipulation that was
available when the ios code was in mainstream use.
