It is possible to load the chassis with more power requirements than the
power supply can produce. If you only have 2 modules then it's not a
problem.
Show environment power (CatOS) or show power (native IOS) will show the
current power requirements and remaining power available.
I recently had this problem on a 6509. The two power supplies (1300W) were
running in redundancy mode but they did not have enough power remaining to
power module 9. The two choices were to disable redundancy mode or leave out
module 9. If I disable redundancy and a power supply fails then the Cat will
automatically shut down modules until the single power supply can power the
chassis. I decided to leave out module 9 and order some bigger power
supplies (2500W).
The worst thing about this was that all 9 modules were running fine until I
upgraded the IOS! It seems that the power requirements for the modules was
revised and on reboot module 9 was left shut down. Luckily that module was
not being utilised.

thanks for that Colin, I'll check the code ver. What do you mena by "enough
power remaining". There only these 2 modules in the 6006 & it has a single
power supply. How can I supply enough power?
