I would have told her that she should be happy to place a candidate
without taking any fee and see what she says.
Many headhunters have had to cut THEIR fees in half to remain
competitive, but that has nothing to do with us. $60k in Dallas isn't
much at all. If you need it bad enough, you'll do it, but personally I
wouldn't recommend it.
The recruiters I've heard from have still been very nice. They're
probably just a little peeved at the lack of market and slew of
candidates they have to wade through. God forbid that they actually
work for their money. :) I think you just got a bad apple there.
Just my opinion.

Subject: OT: Current salaries and recruiters w/attitudes
I just had a recruiter tell me that as a CCIE (with a
little over 3 years of experience), I should be happy
to take a
job for $60k in the Dallas area. Now I know things
aren't great right now,
but this seems a little extreme. Has it really come
to cutting our salaries in half and putting up with
serious attitudes from recruiters? She basically
chewed me out because I was
"not serious" about my job search. I found her
attitude extremely
unprofessional and I am honestly shocked at her
demeanor. Just to make sure I'm not way off base
here, can anybody tell
me if this is really where things are right now, or
was this just a bad
apple?
Thanks,
Scott
