Asim,

Are you using Hyperterm? When you change the baud rate in
hyperterm, it really does _not_ change until you save the
settings, close hyperterm, and open it again using the saved
settings.

This behavior fools a lot of people into thinking that they
have tried all the baud rates of the console port. Every
"dead" CON port I have found has been a baud rate issue.
(You could also have a flowcontrol issue if flowcontrol is
set to hardware in the config and your PC is not providing
it.)

To see if your console port speed has been changed, do a
"show version" from the AUX port. It should say 0x2102 or
something very similar. The config-reg usually gets jumbled
when a user sets it w/o the 0x on the front and IOS assumed
base 10 rather than base 16.

Now, use that number and figure out what the baud rate of the
CON port is by the bits set. 0x2102 is 0010 0001 0000 0010
in binary.

I believe the baud rate is the 5th and 6th bit from the right.
(The first 4 are the boot options, 0001 for helper image and
0010 for flash). The baud rate for the 2500, when set with
the config-reg, only has four speeds: 0 = 9600, 1 = 4800,
2 = 1200, 3 = 2400 (that's 00, 01, 10, and 11 in binary).

I couldn't find the complete configuration register bit table
for the 2500. Can someone post that if they have it handy?
