Hi Eric,

There was a little tool from IBM that looked like a token ring connector
with a long housing...

Inside that tool was a 9v battery.

You plug it into the front of the mau to do that.

Subject: help with 8228 mau (charge it with a 9volt?)

Hello group,

I bought an IBM 8228 mau, and cables to attach my 2504's token ring
interfaces. They don't seem to be coming up....

Here's some debugs:
00:48:41: TR0 starting.
00:49:01: TR0 receive SRB_FREE, state=2, if_state=6
00:49:01: %TR-3-OPENFAIL: Unit 0, open failed: Phys. Insertion, ring
beaconing
00:49:01: %TR-3-BADSTART: Unit 0, Start completion and wrong idb state -
state= 0
00:49:02: TR0: reset from 30900C6
00:49:02: TR0: txtmr: 0x0, msclk: 0x2CE738, qt: 0x0 (2942772ms)
00:49:03: TR0 starting.

I have found a few sites, that state that if the mau hasn't been used in a
while, you have to charge it first with a 9volt battery.... Is this true?
How would you do it if it was? I have searched and couldn't find anyway to
tell me....

August 19th is fast approaching....

Any help is appreciated.
Eric
