Hi Dennis,

The link below describes the "feature" It simply allows some additional
control over the next-hop settings in BGP updates. For example, allowing a
route-reflector to change a BGP next-hop upon reflection, or not modifying
the BGP next-hop in an EBGP update. This functionality lends itself most
usefully to MPLS environments where LSP egress address and BGP Next-Hop
addresses are tightly coupled. Sometimes, to optimally engage the two
environments, one requires some additional control over the BGP Next-Hop
attribute which Cisco has addressed to an extent with this feature.
