I have had problems with isis on ethernet when using a switch to connect the
two. When I use a crossover or a hub everything works fine, but with a
switch I get no adjacency. I would suspect that you are having the same
problem, whatever it is.

Subject: ISIS adjacencuy not forming between ethernet on one router and
BVI logical interface on another router.

The bvi is using a fast ethernet interface that is trunking three VLANs.
Two vlans have been bridged together and reach the IP world through one BVI,
and the other VLAN reaches the IP world through another bvi.

When I "debug isis adj", I see that sometimes the isis hello packets are
larger than 1500. I suspect that there may be an MTU problem having to do
with ISL. I see that isis is sending packets, but I do not see any heelos
being received. I can ping from the bvi to the other router's ethernet
interface. I have played with setting isis priority of the interface. One
is set to 1 and the other is set to 126. Frankly, I think that we are not
even getting to a DR election problem, since we are not getting hellos sent
and received.

Has anyone seen this problem and know a solution?
