quote from Cisco's website:
"Between September 1, 2002 and November 4th, 2002 all CCIE labs will replace
the current Catalyst 5000 switches with Catalyst 3550 switches. However, the
only switching features tested during this time will be those common to both
devices - additional features on the Catalyst 3550 will only be tested after
November 4th, 2002.
Please note that except for the change in switches, no new topics are being
added to the content covered by the Routing and Switching exam. However,
many features currently tested will now be able to receive more weight on
the exam after November 4th."

Even if they don't replace these topics with anything else, think about it:
The two 3550s they are replacing the 5xxx with give you in effect a total of
*eight* routers now rather than six. The network complexity is obviously
much higher.
I have an Oct. 4th date, and yer darn tootin' I am going to put everything
else on hold (sleep if need be) to get ready for that date:)

Subject: Lab Changes
Hi all,
I have my lab date on Oct. 4th in Brussles but my prep work is going slow
and I may have to look for a later date this year (late Nov./early Dec.),
depending on my prep work etc.
I was wondering, Cisco are dropping IPX, IGRP and Token Ring from the lab
(Nov. onwards) but does anyone know what subject area will replace it, i.e.
will there be more IP scenarios etc?.
Thanks,
Malcolm
