I have two Cisco 2502 routers with token ring interfaces.

I have used them and the token ring RJ45 cables successfully with a Olicom 8601
(Cat 3920 OEM) token ring switch before.

Now, in place of the token ring switch, I have a token ring MAU. It is an Andre
ws MAUi / 8516 .

The 2502 routers are default config. I do the following-

(router 1)
Int to0
Ip add 1.1.1.1 255.0.0.0
Ring 4
No shut

(router 2)
Int to0
Ip add 1.1.1.2 255.0.0.0
Ring 4
No shut

The "link lights" constantly flash on the MAU and are never solid. The token po
rts on the routers will never come up and they get errors. I know very little a
bout this MAU. There are "lockout" DIP switches on the right hand side, one for
each port. If I flip the lockout switches for those ports, the lights go solid
and the token ports come up on the routers. When I do a ping between the two I
get "encapsulation failed" on debug ip packet and the pings do not work.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Am I missing something basic here?

Thanks, in advance, for the help.
