Looks like a NSSA N1 and N2 are basically the same as an E1 and E2. Check
out the link attached. Below is an excerpt. BTW, the whole page is good
reading

Type-1 external paths are compared by looking at the sum of the distance to
the forwarding address/ASBR and the advertised Type-1 paths (X+Y). Type-2
external paths are compared by looking at the advertised Type-2 metrics, and
then if necessary, the distance to the forwarding address/ASBR.

RFC 1587 is your answer to all NSSA questions. Read it, know it, love it!

What is the difference between OSPF NSSA N1 (external type 1) and N2
(external
type 2)? Is the relationship simmilar to E1 and E2? ie: E1 increases the
metric of external route as it propogates through OSPF domain vs E2 which
maintains it's metric value
