Hi,
I sent an email to emea ccie lab group about that issue. They told me
they can't give a date ( it is not an overnight issue :) -they said )
for the change. Therefore I must know both cat5000 and cat3550 between 1
september and 4 november. My date is 6 september.
Hope this helps

I had a email from cisco re: my Brussles date.
They told me the 3500's would be phased in before Nov 4th, so you could
either have a cat5000 or 3500 before then.
Does anyone know when the 3500's will be phased in?? My date is on Oct.
4th
Cheers,
Malcolm

Steve Barnes of Halifax told me personally that there will be two per
rack.

I read the "Whats New" page again and I dont see where it says they are
adding two 3550s per rack. It only says this: "all CCIE labs will
replace
the current Catalyst 5000 switches with Catalyst 3550 switches". I would
like to know if anyone can confirm that there is going to be two 3550s
in
the CCIE R&S Lab and if so when will that happen. I am going to pose
this
same question to Cisco.
I am not doubting what you say Brian, but I need to be sure about this
because it will make a big difference in how I prepare.

Here is the part number that the CCIE program said is going to be used
in the new lab:
WS-C3550-24-SMI 24-10/100 and 2 GBIC ports/Std Multilayer SW Image
Also remember that they are putting two per rack.

Quite a few places selling the 3550-24-SMI for around $2100-2150. I've
seen it as low as $2010. Just use one of the web's price comparison
engines.
That said, I'm not sure that the SMI is going to do any good for CCIE
studies....you'll probably want the EMI. Cheapest I've seen it is
$3350.
