Here is what I got back from Cisco on the equipment changes and software.
Thanks
They'll be running EMI code.

Jeff,
Will the 3550 be running the SMI or the EMI code? Thanks
Jeremy

Jeremy,
The 3920 will not be part of the lab starting Nov. 4. and yes, the 3550's
will be replacing the cat 5000's.
Hope this helps,
Jeff

I see that on Nov 4th that token ring switching is being taken off the CCIE
routing and switching lab does this mean that the 3920 token ring switch
will no longer be part of the lab? Also if I take my test after Nov 4th will
all 5000 switches be replaced with 3550's? Is there any other changes to the
equipment list as of Nov 4th. I will be taking me lab in San Jose. Thanks

It may well be that Cisco is going to put the SMI into the labs. There's
no mention on Cisco's site other than the 3550 will be used. There may be
more information from other sources (like Networkers presentations). In
any case, I find it a bit disturbing that they *wouldn't* use the
EMI. Personally, I think that they lab difficulty should be kept high, and
incorporating two L3 switches would be one way to increase complexity.
Just my opinion...
