Below is a post from way back that outlines how to do this. The only
downside being that only 1 side can call.
In my lab DDR is accomplished via aux/modem/2fxs card on a 3620, the aux
ports belong to 2 2500s. Everything works well but there are of course some
drawbacks when compared to ISDN.
1. It takes a long time to connect
2. Because there is only 1 channel between the 2 routers if both sides are
trying to call neither side gets through (I think this could worked out by
offsetting the timers that control dial out attempts.
3. The aux ports go from up->reset->down, when they go to the reset state
updates are triggered on IGRP and OSPF (and probably most other protocols
too, but these I have tested), these updates will bring the circuit back up
when using snapshot or demand circuit. You can get around this by always
using a dialer interface, you can still use the legacy commands on the
dialer interface, so it works out pretty good.
Other than that it works great, took me a few days to get all the issues
worked out, it gets pretty tough when there are multiple issues working
against you all at once.
