if you are using outlook express for mail, then you can go to "View"
"Current View" "Group Messages by Conversation." This will cause Outlook
to try and thread the conversations. It isn't perfect, but it helps me
quite a bit when trying to follow a conversation. It also reduces the
amount of email that you see in the message list window since Outlook
threads them and lists them heirarchically.
