I think that when you pick up the phone at extension 1111 and dial somebody
else at 2222.
1111 = calling number
2222 = called number
I believe that these number follow the phone call through each switch it
encounters.
Hope this helps and I didn't leave something out of reading the question.

Can anybody help with this question?
In the context below, what is the definition of "called number" vs.
"calling number"? Text is from:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios122/122cgcr/fvvfax_
c/vvfpeers.htm
"The router selects an inbound dial peer by matching the information
elements in the setup message with the dial peer attributes. The router
attempts to match these items in the following order:
1. Called number with incoming called-number
2. Calling number with answer-address
3. Calling number with destination-pattern
4. Incoming voice port with configured voice port"
... and later on in the same Cisco document:
"answer-address (string): (Optional) Selects the inbound dial peer based on
the calling number.
incoming called-number (string): (Optional) Selects the inbound dial peer
based on the called number to identify voice and modem calls."
Thanks in advance.
