So the only difference is making the conig the default? but apart from this
issue, the outcome of both commands is the same?

as per the documentation , when you put the default keyword this means you
change the level of log to syslog server ..when you dont ..you change the
level of logs for the telnet sessions .

it used to be confusing to me as well..but this is what is written in the
Docs .
