Root guard is not an option here. Root guard is configured on a switch to
stop other switches becoming root. It does not stop the switch you configure
it on becoming the root.
The feature became available on R6.1
The lab uses up to 4.5.9 as confirmed below from a question I asked on the
Ask the Expert forum a couple of weeks ago.

Most Catalysts in the racks today are on sup 4-5-9.bin. However, not all
Catalysts worldwide are configured with enough memory to support this.
Therefore, it is safe to assume that there are no Catalysts deployed with

if you enable root guard on the port which your -not wanted root- switch
connected, that one never become root.
