As stated in the IOS documentation: "For OSPF, this command summarizes only rou
tes from other routing protocols that are being redistributed into OSPF". So, s
ummary-address will not summarize our loopbacks if we run OSPF on these interfa
ces.
The requirement is to use a /32 mask for the loopbacks. So setting network type
on these interfaces will not make any change.

Use area range command for inter areas and summary-address for inter AS.
For example "area 0 range 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0" or "summary-address
192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0"

Subject: Summarizing from OSPF

Hi,

[r1]---igrp---[r2]---area0--[r3]---area0----[r4]----area1---

each router has a loopback interface addressed 135.1.n.n/32
Routing protocol is running on the loopback interfaces (using network
command).
How would you summarize these loopback addresses from OSPF to /24 if you
aren't allowed
to use static routes.

I believe that this subject was discussed on this group but since the search
isn't working
can someone point to the right thread?

Chaim Gev
