Indeed--good catch. You certainly need to know if the protocol in question
is routable and if so, whether the router is supposed to be routing it or
just bridging it. If the router is routing the routable protocol (lol) then
the 'multiring' command would be needed for generating RIFs as the packets
leave the routed environment and head into the SRB environment. When Gary
asked "how do you configure a router so that it runs SRB and works with the
3900" I took it to mean the router was running SRB only. In this case, the
'multiring' command would be superflurous.
