Nothing is really different about either one....unless you have an
interface with a subnet of the Class B network that is not allowed to
have EIGRP running on it. Then you would need to turn "auto-summary" off
and use a more specific network statement.

Since 12.0, we can define eigrp network statements
classlessly.
For ex.
router eigrp 1000
network 172.16.10.0 0.0.0.255
what is the difference between the above and this?
router eigrp 1000
network 172.16.0.0
and which is the preferred method in the lab?.
