You have to map your own IP address on one of the PVC-s to make it pingable fro
m the local router.
In your case:
 frame-relay map ip 10.1.1.1 108

Subject: no ping local serial0.1

Anybody got the logic behind why I can ping the remote side of a
frame relay connection, but can't ping the local sub-interface?

Loopback's are logical interfaces and we can ping them locally?

interface Serial0.2 multipoint
 ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.252
 ip ospf network broadcast
 ip ospf priority 100
 frame-relay map ip 10.1.1.2 108 broadcast
