when i "show ip ospf",i got the following ,
Area BACKBONE(0) (Inactive)
Number of interfaces in this area is 0
        Area has message digest authentication
        SPF algorithm executed 1 times
        Area ranges are
Number of LSA 0. Checksum Sum 0x0
Number of opaque link LSA 0. Checksum Sum 0x0
        Number of DCbitless LSA 0
        Number of indication LSA 0
        Number of DoNotAge LSA 0
        Flood list length 0

even in another scenario ,one router has an int in
area 0,
i got
Area BACKBONE(0) (Inactive)
Number of interfaces in this area is 1

so what does "inactive"mean?

Thanks
