Telnet problem

Hi All,

I have a strange telnet problem. We have a router at a remote location. If I
telnet to it, I can see the banner motd and user verification prompt, but the
prompt immediately goes to the new line and after 3 attempts the session is
disconnected. All this is happening in a less then a second.

Otherwise the router is operational and works fine. No changes has been made
recently. There is ACL and access to the router and vty ports is limited to
few IP addresses. I will have the personal there reboot the router, but I'm
very curious what is the reason for this.

I just wondering if any of you came across into similar problem.
