Multicasting and OSPF

If I enable multicasting on an interface with OSPF it wrecks the OSPF
adjacancy. I would assume that this is becaause enabling PIM stops the
interface from auto-joining the OSPF muticast group. What needs to be
done? I have tried to have the interface join the OSPF mcast address
but it still did not fix it.
