I would agree that the CCIE lab exam would benefit from testing more
practical applications of routing and switching technology. In my opinion,
the idea is to verify that a candidate has a solid understanding of
relevant techniques, not to limit the amount of successful candidates. For
what its worth, I am basing my judgement on the questions posted to this
list which tend to be indicative of those asked on the real lab (read
rampant direct/indirect NDA violation). My lab, which I took a few years
ago, was very relevant and professionally administered.
This however has the potential to be the root of another 100 message thread
that yields little. However, maybe the resident proctors will take notice
and make more of an effort to be relevant assuming they have diverted from
this path.
