Francis,
             Without doing a bunch of configurations that will still not
achieve what you're attempting, this will not work.

The goal here is to identify why and what options you would have in
attaining reachability from r5 to r8.

Since you're using RIP and the 140.20.x.x is all that RIP will care about
your first problem is that
"split-horizon" will cause these inbound redistributed routes to be
suppressed. r8 will not learn of a
network it locally advertises. Not only this, but if you were to disable
"split-horizon" nothing will change
 since the 140.20.x.x will have a better route in the r8 RIB as a directly
connected route. In this
scanerio, the "default-network" command will not provide the solution as
well. Since the requirement
would be for a network other than the existing known or advertised networks
of r8.

Maybe if this was RIPv2.
