I kjjust went through this scenario this past week and so that you dont have
to spend all the hours I spent I will give you the steps that worked for me.
1. These boxes are the same as any other cisco box except that they nneed a
cookie upgrade that will permanently convert it to a regular box.
2. go to the cisco web site get the 2500 series upgrade ( you need a login )
if you dont have one let me know I will send you the file.
3. tftp this upgrade to flash, write it and then power cycle the router.
This will permanently upgrade the router.
4. You can put whatever ios you want provided you have the flash memory that
will support it.
5. Dont use the RSL it caused me untold hours of frustration and wasted
time.
