Curtis,
OSPF is a link state protocol, and as such it does not "advertise"
routes out of interfaces. It does sync a database with peers and
then compute best routes out of that info.
(and every router on a -connected- area is to have the same area
database)
The control of default generation is tied to areas, not interfaces.
On an ABR, marking an area as stub will generate a default for
it. If you have a default, you can filter it via distribute lists,
but again only on an ABR...
