IGRP: unequal-cost load sharing

Never mind folks,

For people that have the Doyle 1 book I substituted the connection between Love
tt and Hariman as an Ethernet connection instead of a serial connection. Once I
reconfigured the scenario to use a serial connection between Lovett and Harima
n the scenario worked fine.

Guess IGRP don't consider a hop when the path traverses an Ethernet to Etherne
t link between routers. Can anyone explain?

The only other modification the lab that I made is to use Ethernet between Harr
iman and Kennan which shouldn't make a difference.

thanx,

Hi folks,

Just going through Doyle #1 and the rule about unequal-cost load sharing (Speci
fically rule #2 Page 253).

This rule states that "the next-hop router must be metrically closer to the des
tination. That is, it's metric for the route must be smaller than the local rou
ter's metric." etc.

I simulated the scenario but I am still able to get all routes in. His scenario
is on page #261 under the Case Study: unequal-cost load balancing, again.

I was wondering if anybody was able to simulate this scenario successfully....

thanx,

chris hugo

PS. IOS is 12.1(8)
