Technically, yes. Realistically, no. You could console into your make-shift com
mserver and give the hub interface an ip address, then manually console into yo
ur other routers, plug their ethernet interfaces into your comm server's hub po
rts, and give them ip addresses on the same subnet and enable telnet access. Fr
om there, you can go back to consoling into your wanna-be comm server and telne
t into the appropriate router. The obvious problem with that setup is, every ro
uter effectively loses an ethernet interface. I suppose with secondary IP addre
sses you could probably pull it off, but I wouldn't do it.

>From what I've heard, it actually seems like the 486 with multiple serial port
s would be the cheapest option, and that would also work well for situations wh
ere you want to view debug out on one router and generate traffic on another. W
hat's easiest for me is to get my IGP's running, then pick a router at the cent
er of my topology and use it as a base of operations and telnet into the other
routers as necessary.

What can I say, I'm lazy.

I'm sorry, I meant as a comm server for the lab so I can reverse telnet into
the other routers. Do I still need an octal cable or can I use the 14 port
ethernet hub that's built in to somehow do this?

Thanks,
