Hi Kenny,
For configuring the 3900 series - straight from the source:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat3900/3900ug4/config.h
tm
Also, both Caslow's and Solie's book do a good job of explaining configuring
the switch. The one thing that's tough about explaining how to configure
the 3900 series switch is there is no 'show running-config' to output a
line-by-line version of the config. Everything is just screen shots.
If you want to get your hands dirty by touching a real 3900 series switch
you can always rent some rack time from Bernie Ormani
(Bernard@networkking.net). $20.00 buys you all the time you'll need and I
think he includes some config samples. I rented some time on his ATM rack
(also $20) and now feel confident in that part of the lab.
HTH,
Sean

Subject: How to configure Cat3900
Can anyone please tell the minimum configuration to manage a token ring 3900
switch. I am not so sure.
1) creat a TRBRF
2) creat a TRCRF and attach to TRBRF
3) assign port to the TRCRF
4) connect router to the port and assign an ip
5) assign a ip to the 3900 switch and default gateway pointing to the
router.
6) ping the router ip from the switch.
Many thanks
Kenny
