I was a Tech Controller in the Air Force for 4 years. At
the time I couldn't wait to get out and use the B.S. Degree in
Telecommunications I finished online from RIT in N.Y.
I thought my job was pretty week at the time, becuase we
mostly did trouble shooting and monitoring networks at night. I made it to
Circuit actions and then got my first taste of Cisco routers.
I'm very greatfull for my telecom background from the Air Force and I've
been able to use it several times to suplement the ignorance of some of the
CCIEs I work with.
"What the hell is SONET, B.E.R.T, OTDR, CAS, PNNI ????"
I sat there for 4 years making 12,000 or so. But 3 years
later I'm in the Six Figures Club. If May 8th goes well, I should get
another chunk to reward me for the CCIE/Security clearance combo. I can
thank the Air Force for my initial clearance and since my company has put a
priority on getting into the Federal Side it should
come in handy.
Although I haven't used it in a year and half since I quiteworking out at
N.S.A. I think your good for 5 years.
Oh well, back to the Study Marathon.
Good luck, to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!CCIE2B
