You can do area x range command at any abr, where x is 0....any area. You shoul
d try it out on different conditions and watch how the summary route being adve
rtise.
It is true that at all abr, summary route from area x range command will go to
area 0 and then to all other area. ( this seen to be directional).
for area 0, let said you do area 0 range command at abr of 0 and 1, then the su
mmary route of this area 0 route will advertise into area 1 only...

Minor correction: As I understand things, you can't summarize area 0. The area
range command is used on an ABR to summarize routes getting advertized into are
a 0, and summary-address is used on an ASBR.
