It's a good thing this discussion has come up
And i know it's one that will keep rearing it's ugly head

If anyone has done the skynet lab from the sollie book
On router 5(running EIGRP) you are meant to summarize 151.100.1.1/24 and
151.101.1.1/24
This should give 151.100.0.0/14
You are required to get this subnet into IGRP on R6 which is a /24
But between the R5 and the R6 is an ospf domain.

I have done the required redistribute connected
Then done a summary address to a /24 on the ASBR of the OSPF domain
But still fail to see the 151.100.00 network on R6 in the eigrp domain

I hope i have't ended up confusing all
If you've done this lab before you'll probably understand

Phew !!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tarek ,

With Summary-Address you cannot re-distribute to other
routing protocol . Its for the Summary Address for
Ecternal Routes .

I would rather say create a Summary Address with "Area
range " commad on the router you want to summarized
the addresses on, with the mask configured on the
interfaces running IGRP. If the mask is now same as
configured on IGRP interfaces than you wil not see the
route on IGRP router .

Another way that I could see is to create a static
route on ASBR to NULL 0 and redistribute static into
IGRP process ..but again the mask SHOULD match with
interaces configured with IGRP .

Let me know id I am wrong .

Muhammad
