Ok Guys.. I"m lost here..

I dig out some documentation in Cisco website and I found out the following
info. Cisco IOS offers 2 kinds of traffic regulation mechanism.
Policing and shaping. A policer will drops traffic and a shaper typically shape
traffic using queue or buffer.
The type of shapping: GTS (generic traffic shaping), CBS (class-based shaping),
DTS (distributed traffic shaping), FRTS (frame relay).
The type of Policing : Traffic policing and CAR.

Now the confusion is when and where do you use all this bunch of stuff.... I
know the documentation says something like they can work in tandem, but I've
never seen any discussion on it. So perhaps some of you who have implemented it
can share some knowledge with us. btw it's really necessary to run both ( they
said CAR only do rate limit and LLQ would guarantee bandwidth).....

tks in advance

Best Regarsd
