Chris,
I took both ECP-1 and NMC-1. I can say this:
ECP-1 was awesome. I learned quite a lot, but I had a great instructor;
Rick Burts.
NMC-1 was actually (no offense to anyone) way above the level/value of
ECP-1. The little tweaks/tips/tricks/ideas/methods/speed/etc. I learned
in NMC-1 put me over the top.
As Bruce Caslow put it:
"I went from a C class candidate, to a B or an A class candidate."
If you take the class, you will know what that was all about :-)
Bruce Caslow has techniques that I personally adhered to in my test
taking methodology. And frankly, most people know this stuff, it is not
the stuff that gets you. It is how the questions are presented, the time
constraints and of course your ability to keep your cool, be VERY
PRECISE and VERY ACCURATE!
Bruce teaches you all this in his book in great detail. I actually paid
attention to his methods and implemented it. I took A LOT OF NOTES,
built up my knowledge base to a very high level and made sure I did not
rush the lab date. I took about 6 months before my first attempt.
So, ECP-x was very good. NMC-1 was much better. I did not need NMC-2
since I had plenty of gear to practice on and plenty of time. NMC-2 is
basically a simulation of a real lab like environment: Lots of rack
time, lots of comprehensive, all day labs. I believe the NMC-1 class was
$3995 and NMC-2 is $4495 ..
Good Luck
