Hi Dennis,
My company deals with 1720s and 1750s all the time. The differences are easy
to tell between the two.
1720 models state:
Model
Cisco 1720
on the lower left corner of the back side. Also, they only have 2 ports for
cards.
1750 models state
Cisco 1750
right in the upper middle of the back side of the router. Also, the router
has 3 ports available for cards.

(and no, that's not my router for sale, the auction just had a good pic).
It's faint but about 12 o'clock high on the router you can see the model name.
BTW - I'm not crazy about the routers. They're a good access router but they
go into rommon quite often. We have a couple different customers that we
monitor about 2000+ 1720s and 1750 and we're always having to reset the
routers (but that's a different thread).
