IPX Gotchas
1) Do not use RIP on frame relay hub and spoke because you cannot turn off
split horizon.
2) When using IPX over DDR if you use a restrictive dialer list ,be sure
to include static routes to the remote network and static SAP to remote
servers
3) When you include a static SAP to a remote server across and ISDN line
and there is a local server also use the command # ipx
gns-response-delay 1000
4) Don't forget to spoof spx and watchdog packets across and ISDN line
5) NLSP cannot run on loopback,FR physical ,FR Multipoint interfaces
.Remember to turn off IPX RIP and SAP with
# ipx nlsp rip off
# ipx nlsp sap off
6) Remember that the split horizon rule applies to SAPs as well .
7) If you are doing GRE tunneling , be sure that you are not blocking TCP
port 47 along the way .
8) When buling a restrictive dialer list for IPX over DDR remember
to include the line for Novell Serialization packets ie IPX socket no. 457
9) Permit SAP type 0x107 for RCONSOLE to work across the WAN
I can't think of any other right now .
