CCBoot Lab 8

On CCBootcam lab 8a, I notice that the advertisement of 172.168.80.0 will
not show up as valid on other IBGP peers because there is no route to the
next hop of 137.20.86.1 (R8), so it show up in sh ip bgp but not the route
table. I choose to do a next-hop-self on R6 to remedy this situation.
Looking at the answer key I see that CCboot answer was to redistribute he
connected interface S0 on R6 (137.20.86.2) which remedies the situation as
well. However, I wonder why that was chosen. Is there some reason why the
next-hop-self should not be used in this situation? It does fix the problem.
There may be something further on in the lab that would require it, but I
don't immediately see it.
