Subject: DHCP on 7206 with 12.2(7)

Greetings,

I am on a client site and need help resolving an issue with DHCP. The
problem is that the 7206 receives a DHCPDISCOVER from the client, and
then does nothing. There are no connectivity issues; when the PC is
hardcoded with an IP address in the range offered by the server, it has
full network connectivity.

The 7206 is running 12.2(7) IP only software; image c7200-is-mz.122-7
and the configs are as follows: Production network info masked by X's,
etc.

********************************************
7206:

service dhcp
!
no ip dhcp conflict logging (this used instead of defining a database)
ip dhcp excluded-address x.x.x.x x.x.x.x ! ip dhcp pool dhcp_pool
   network x.x.x.x x.x.x.x
   default-router x.x.x.x
   domain-name unlisted
   dns-server x.x.x.x
!
interface FastEthernet0/0.5
 encapsulation dot1Q 5
 ip address x.x.x.x x.x.x.x
 no cdp enable
!
******************************************

Catalyst switch:

#module 3 : 48-port 10/100BaseTx Ethernet
set vlan 2 3/1-47
set vlan 5 3/48
set trunk 3/48 off dot1q 1-1005
set spantree portfast 3/48 enable
*****************************************

Client attached to port 3/48.

The exact same configuration on a 3600 series router running the same
IOS works perfectly. I tried 2 different 7206 routers with identical
configs and received the same result:

*Mar 26 17:23:24.751: DHCPD: DHCPDISCOVER received from client
0100.10a4.b72f.28 on interface FastEthernet0/0.5. *Mar 26 17:23:29.755:

DHCPDISCOVER received from client 0100.10a4.b72f.28 on interface
FastEthernet0/0.5.

Could there be a problem with the 7206 platform running a DHCP Service?
CCO was not any help, nor were there any caveats listed under the IOS
release.

My apologies for the length, and thanks in advance for any advice.
